quartzwolf: A kitty on a bed (Default)
I realise I've mentioned my new weird storytelling interest, but not gone into much detail, and that is partly because I'm certain most people who read here aren't going to care all that much. However it has been taking over my brain, almost constantly, so I though I would talk a little more about it - although I have made the decision to take the rest of December off, due to how complicated this month has been. Queues will be back in January.

This is something I first became interested in when I was reading Sims stories, and with how complicated it's been to write anything for myself the last few years I saw it as a way to potentially reconnect with my creativity. I planned on doing something relatively small, but this is me we're talking about, so small obviously isn't possible, leading to what currently exists and what I'm working on. When I was posting it was every other day queues on Bluesky, which is basically a series of posts (I do one every 15 minutes) telling a specific part of the story. From there I post them to a Tumblr archive, so everything is easy to read, because I have a nice navigation post. This is also where I'm posting some AUs I'm working on, as this will have an effect on the later story, splitting that into multiple saves. Some storytellers use rotational set ups, where they focus on a specific group of Sims at a time, and mine will be similar, although over multiple saves rather than one. The reason for this will become clear later on.

Honestly, after the drought of creativity, this has been so much fun. I have plans I'd like to start working on, but unfortunately some of these are limited by my graphics card. (My hope was the estate would be sorted by now, as it's been 20 months since Nan died, as I'd be able to use some of the money to update that.) One of those is potentially videos or streams. Unfortunately I just need to be patient with that. Another thing is setting up something on Ko-fi where I can create Sims for others, because I really enjoy spending time in CAS. I'm thinking of getting that up by the end of the year, but that depends on other things I need to get done.

This is my Bluesky. As I said before queues will start at the beginning of the year, and I also have links here to my feeds, but the best place for the archive is my Tumblr, which is the Lockwoods specific account. I do also have a more personal account, which is mainly the Sims. At this point there are 13 chapters set in the 1800s, moving into a 27 chapters (and counting) of a 1500s flashback. Then the AUs all have 2 chapters.

Screenshotting is what takes the majority of the time, although I am learning better skills all the time, and it's faster than it was. Then I write the posts, ready for scheduling. Everything about this has been great fun, with there being so many more skills I want to learn, making me feel like this is where I'll be expending most of my creative energy next year.
